It’s been 15 years since I left my job as a classroom teacher back in Chicago.
It was such a leap of faith to leave an established career that meant so much to me, especially with no clear blueprint of what was coming next.
All I knew, with certainty, was that in the middle of teaching my 7th grade reading class I had heard my Soul say to me:
“You’re time here is done”.
As I heard those words I felt both immense relief and incredibly panic.
Relief because this explained the restlessness I had been feeling.
Panic because logically it made no sense to leave my career at a time when things were going so well.
I’d recently been given a prestigious teaching award which had opened many doors for me.
I was being invited to give talks at colleges of education.
I had written chapters and articles in several education books and journals.
Doors of opportunity we’re opening in an abundant way.
Exciting things were happening.
My logical mind would proclaim:
“Why would you trade the security and rewards you’re experiencing for the UNKNOWN!”
And my heart would answer, in a small voice, but consistent nonetheless: “because we’re being called into something new”.
And, so despite, all the internal and external objections, I embarked on a career in wellness and spirituality.
It was quite an ego death to let go of my old identity as a teacher.
But I’m so grateful to my past self for having the courage to take that leap.
And now, I’ve helped so many women follow their Soul’s guidance so they can share their beautiful medicine with the world.
So, my dear, if you’re feeling guided into something new (even if you don’t know what it is) trust that voice.
If you feel fear that’s normal.
If it doesn’t quite make logical sense, but your heart is saying yes, you’re on the right track.
Right now, take a moment to ask your Soul to fill you with trust and peace. Ask Her to send you signs of reassurance as you keep saying yes to Her guidance.
Remember, you’re not alone.
There are many brave souls answering this calling too.
And the world is blessed because of this.
