When you imagine doing work that you absolutely love, what does it look like? Even if you don’t actually know the precise job (although you might), what does it involve? Are you teaching? Counseling? Connecting people with nature? With their inner wisdom? Are you making spaces beautiful so that others can enjoy it? Are you writing? Or running an inspiring store?
Whatever the image, if you love it, if it uplifts your heart, then that desire was placed there by your Soul. And your job is to follow your Soul’s guidance, one little step at a time, to fulfilling that mission.
Many of the women who reach out to me for help with their career have such images. They can visualize the workshops they will be leading, the books they will be writing, the people they will be helping in their own unique way.
They feel immense joy as the imagine doing work that they love. But then, these women get stuck. The path from where they are, to where the want to be, can feel long and, most of all, unclear. This lack of clarity often leads to paralysis. And it is so easy to stay stuck in that space, sometimes for years at a time.
The antidote to this inaction is, not surprisingly, to take action. But not in a scattered, urgent way. Instead, slow down and ask your Soul what little steps to take, and then start taking those steady consistent steps forward.
It’s this concept of “slowing down to speed up” which I have talked about before, that creates the most momentum (read, Slowing Down in 2018 to Speed Up Your Creations). As I’ve coached hundreds of women through this, I have found that there is always a step you can take, no matter how unclear you might be about your career.
There is always some action that your Soul is guiding you to take that will lead you forward in evolving your career. Sometimes that step might seem unrelated to your work life. For example, your Soul might guide you to read a certain book, start exercising, or improve your diet.
This inner guidance might not feel directly connected to your career, but once you take these steps you get unstuck and create momentum, either because you feel better, and can now hear your Soul more clearly, or because in taking those steps you will connect with a person or resource that will be of great help with your career. Trust me. I have both seen and experienced this many times.
Another important thing to remember is that your Soul usually gives you guidance one step at a time. So even though your parts might want to know the whole blueprint. The way it actually works is that you receive guidance from your Soul on a step to take, and once you take that step the next one appears. So literally your Soul might just be waiting for you to take that one small step before it gives you more clarity.
So my dear, listen to your Soul and don’t dismiss the guidance that comes to you, regardless of how small it may seem. Take action, and this will get you unstuck, and start the flow of support coming your way.
