Sixteen years ago, when I first began my meditation practice, I was very focused on connecting with my Soul. I saw meditation as a powerful tool that could help me access that part of me that seemed to hold all the answers.
In those beginning stages, my meditations would often feel long and tedious. But there were other times that felt more nurturing, almost as if I was being held. I believed that this supportive energy was coming from my Soul.
In those occasions I often would ask, more like implore, my Soul for guidance. Please, please talk to me, I would plead.
I would then pause and listen intently for an answer to come from deep inside of me. There were many times when I heard nothing. Although it was tempting to give up on my quest, I somehow knew to just keep going.
And then on one momentous morning, when I was not even trying to get an answer, I heard my Soul say to me, I have you not the other way around.
I was quite stunned. First, that I heard such a clear message, and second that the message carried the energy of what it was explaining to me.
You see, when I heard those words I felt as if I was taken into the cosmos and from that infinite space I could look down on my tiny human self. But rather than feeling insignificant or unimportant amid this awareness, I felt immense love and honoring.
This quite literally turned my perspective around. I understood that it wasn’t my big, mighty human self trying to reach my Soul.
But rather my infinite Soul had me, and all I had to do was receive its love, guidance and wisdom.
From that moment, I’ve been mentoring with my Soul on how to receive from it consistently, no matter what is happening around me AND how to teach this to others, especially when it comes to sharing their Soul’s medicine.
On the one hand this is a very simple process. It’s, after all, your birthright to be able to receive from your Soul.
On the other hand, it can feel like the hardest journey you’ll ever take because there are many obstacles that can get in the way.
