As I continue on my spiritual journey, it has become increasingly important for me to stop and recognize the growth, and the healing in my life. I’ve come to understand that pausing to celebrate and integrate the many lessons that come my way, is crucial to my well being. It also ensures that I am cultivating joy, peace and gratitude NOW, not when I reach some imagined destination.
One of the simple practices I’ve done for years that helps me mark the milestones and the passing of time, is taking a few minutes on the first day of every month to write down a list of all of the growth, blessings, and lessons of the previous month.
I literally just write a stream of consciousness bullet list of anything that comes to mind about the month that just ended. For instance, I might write down the titles of the books I read, the name of a person I had a meaningful/challenging conversation with, an inspiring animal encounter I had, a creative project I finished, and so on. This is not a time to judge or analyze anything. I am just acknowledging all the growth of the previous month.
Every time I do this, I am filled with gratitude and awe at how much transpires in 30 days, and I feel open to receive the new blessings and lessons of the month that is just beginning.
If this resonates with you consider trying this practice next month. This will offer you a moment to slow down and enjoy the ride.
After all, we’re halfway through the year already. When the last day of 2018 comes it would be lovely if you could look back and recognize how present, and in your joy, you were this year.
Blessings,
Lisa
