This week we mark the official beginning of summer. It’s time for fun and playfulness AND also preparation and recommitment.
As I’ve already shared in a previous blog, it’s easy for the summer to distract you from your own Soul’s journey. To feel like you must put yourself “on hold” until the fall arrives when you will have more time and are finally able to focus on evolving your career.
But, as you know, this simply isn’t true. Yes, you might need to adjust your schedule to make room for the fun (and sometimes stressful) changes that the summer brings, but if you keep taking steady, consistent Soul-led steps you will keep making progress AND you will be happier.
So in this sixth month of the year it is a great time to reflect and celebrate the blessings that have happened so far in your career and in all areas of you life AND it’s also time to course correct if needed. My focus here is on your career, your Soul’s medicine, but of course, you can reflect on all areas of your life.
Once you have created some time for yourself, go in stillness and ask your Soul to lead this time of reflection. It’s too easy to go into self-judgment if you don’t do this first. remember your Soul loves you unconditionally so if you start to feel self-criticism or frustration or any emotion you don’t like pause and reconnect with your Soul. Now when you’re ready ask yourself some questions about these first six months of the year.
If you’re stuck, below are some questions you might try. Choose whichever ones resonate with you the most. I recommend you have a journal with you so you can write down whatever guidance comes.
Please note that if you’re not currently working, then replace the word “career” with Soul’s medicine. Remember everyone has a unique Soul’s medicine whether you are currently working or not.
So far this year:
- What have I liked about my career?
- What new tools/practices/support systems/ have I integrated in my career?
- What positive changes have happened in my career?
- What have a I created?
- What do I want to celebrate in regards to my career these past 6 months?
- Is there anything in my career that I have not liked?
- Is there anything in my career that I want to let go of but haven’t been able to?
You might need to do these questions more than once and allow yourself to write whatever comes without censoring.
Now that you’ve reflected on the first half of the year, it’s time to think about the upcoming six months. You might decide you don’t need to change anything and just need to make sure you keep doing what you’ve been doing.
Or, you might realize you need to course correct a bit.
Again, remember you are doing this self-reflection with your Soul and your Soul is always loving so if you start to notice yourself getting tense, stop and reconnect with your Soul and then proceed.
Below are some questions you can ask yourself if you feel you need to do a bit of course correcting.
In regards to the upcoming 6 months:
- Are there any changes I’d like to create in my career?
- Are there any aspects of my career that I feel I’ve outgrown and what do I need to do to remedy this?
- Are there things (or relationships) I need to release from my life so that I can evolve my career and what steps do I need to take in order to do that?
- Are there things (or relationships) I need to embrace so that I can more easily evolve my career and what steps do I need to take in order to do this?
- When the end of 2018 comes, what would I love to know you have accomplished in your career? How would I feel if this happened?
Like I said before you might need to do these questions more than once. And of course you can use your own questions.
Good job my dear! You now have a “map”, so to speak, for the coming year.
Use this guidance to stay the course.
Remember you have a beautiful Soul’s medicine that no one else has, and as you share it, not only will the world be blessed, but you will be as well.
Blessings,
Lisa
